Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What areas do you cover?

We cover Ealing, West Ealing, Ealing Broadway, Hanwell, Northfields, Acton, Chiswick, Greenford and across West London. If you are not sure whether you are in our area, give us a call on 07402 806032 and we will be happy to confirm.

How long have you been trading?

Boiler Boys London has been running since 2017, and owner Feargal has over 20 years in the trade, from a British Gas apprenticeship to his own business. Feargal attends jobs personally, so you deal with an experienced engineer, not a subcontractor.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Yes. All of our engineers carrying out gas work are Gas Safe registered, and our air conditioning engineers are F-Gas registered too. Every gas job meets the legal safety standards required in the UK.

What are your opening hours?

We are open 7am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday. We also offer 24-hour emergency call-outs and aim to be on site within one hour of your call. For next-day appointments when we are closed, you can request a convenient time and we will confirm it as soon as possible.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation quotes on installations and most work. We believe in being completely transparent, so once we have assessed the job you get a clear price and an invoice covering labour and materials, with no hidden costs.

How can I pay?

You can pay by chip and pin, bank transfer or cash. We confirm the cost with you before any work goes ahead, so you always know what you are paying for.

How much does a new boiler cost?

New boiler installations start from around £3,000 supplied and fitted, depending on the boiler you choose and the complexity of your system. We give you a fixed quote after assessing your home, so there are no surprises.

What boiler brand do you recommend?

We recommend Vaillant, which comes with a 10-year warranty. We also install Worcester Bosch, Baxi and Potterton, and we will talk you through the best option for your home and budget.

How often should I get my boiler serviced?

Manufacturers recommend servicing your boiler once a year, and it is especially important if you have a warranty on your boiler, as without an annual service that warranty can become invalid. An annual service also keeps the boiler running safely and efficiently.

How much is a boiler repair?

We charge £105+VAT for attendance, diagnosis and safety advice. Once we have assessed the boiler, we can usually give you a fixed price for the repair before any further work goes ahead.

Is there a warranty on your work?

Yes. There is a 12-month warranty on all parts and labour supplied by us, and up to 10 years parts and labour on new boiler installations and replacements, depending on the manufacturer.

Can you fix my boiler the same day?

Often, yes. We carry a wide selection of parts for the most common boiler brands, so nine times out of ten we can complete the repair on the first visit. If a specific part needs ordering, we can usually collect it the same day.

What is a powerflush and do I need one?

A powerflush clears sludge, rust and debris from your central heating using high-velocity water and cleaning chemicals. Cold spots on radiators, slow heating or radiators that are cold at the bottom are the usual signs that your system needs one.

How much is a powerflush?

A powerflush is £500+VAT for up to 8 radiators, then £50 per radiator after that. We confirm the cost for your system before we start, with no hidden extras.

Are you available at short notice for emergencies?

Yes. We offer 24-hour emergency call-outs and aim to be on site within one hour of you contacting us. Save our number, 07402 806032, so you have it ready if something goes wrong.

How often do I need a landlord gas safety certificate?

It is a legal requirement to have a gas safety check carried out yearly for all rental properties. We can also add a boiler service at the same time, and the total for both is £160+VAT.

Do you have experience with home insurance claims for leaks?

Yes. We have extensive experience working with home insurance providers and can provide professional reports and high-resolution photographs to back up any claim, so you are not left out of pocket.

How much does leak detection cost?

Our specialist leak detection service is £800+VAT and includes a full investigation using thermal imaging, acoustic equipment, moisture meters and tracer gases to locate the leak with minimal disruption to your property.

Are your air conditioning engineers F-Gas registered?

Yes. All of our air conditioning engineers are fully insured and hold the relevant qualifications, including F-Gas registration, so your installation and servicing are carried out safely and legally.

Which air conditioning brands do you install?

We install Mitsubishi, Daikin and Samsung systems, chosen for their energy efficiency, quiet running and long-term reliability. We will recommend the right system for your space during the survey.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

Air conditioning installations start from £1,900, depending on the system and your property. We assess your layout and cooling needs before recommending the right size and model, then give you a clear quote.

How long does an air conditioning service take?

An air conditioning service usually takes one to two hours, depending on the location and condition of the unit. We check refrigerant levels, clean the filters and inspect all the components.

Why should I service my air conditioning?

Regular servicing keeps your system running efficiently, maintains good air quality and extends its lifespan. It also helps keep running costs down and catches small issues before they turn into breakdowns.
